From Zero to Infinity is a painting series by Barbara Pietrasanta inspired by travels to the East and encounters with distant cultures. The palette absorbs the colours of spices and crumbling walls; canvases break into modules and sequences — detail gains force, gesture becomes meaning. Works in oil on canvas from 1999 to 2014, in which physical journey becomes inner journey and the boundary between worlds dissolves into colour.
Tales of travel and the East. Extreme fragrances and intense smells, colours of spices and scraped walls, infinity discovered by the eyes. A new language is created, up to the limits of the known, and the wooden palette becomes contaminated. The canvas break down, more space is offered to details, more meaning is given to gestures.
