Earlier Works brings together Barbara Pietrasanta’s paintings from the 1990s to the early 2000s: the formative period between Milan and New York, in which her figurative language took shape. Oil on canvas, collage and mixed media for a constant investigation into female identity, the body and the contradictions of contemporary life. Works that bear the marks of direct, unfiltered painting, in dialogue with art history and the urgency of the present.
A constant play of displacements, situations and meanings, of role-play between the artist who paints and the subject represented, in which only painting is in a position of strength. Everything else is questioned.
