Colors are finally back, unexpectedly. It is the experience of a new closeness, of a mitigated absence. Anyone who has dumped a loved knows. It is the awareness not of a failed work, but of a completed one. Women fill the picture, they are the main characters of life, now as then. Everyone grabs the sheets of the Holy Shroud as if to fasten each other, not to break up. Everyone looks at us as if to issue an invitation: “Give us a hand!” This gaze goes beyond two millennia in one gulp and makes us contemporary to the event. It is what happens to every Mass. Extraordinary work. Yet perhaps an unfinished work. To Barbara and to us remains the urgent need to resurrect. With Christ.
