Wonderful in its composition, this fresco is the beginning of the second part of the Way, the one that loses its colors while getting closer to Calvary. A firm line separates light from darkness. Christ is suffering in the light, a humanity made entirely of women is in the darkness. A child gets away from the hand of her mother and crosses the dividing line, passing from the darkness of death to the light of Christ. How many boundaries! How many curtains! Once political once, cultural today, religious always. It is Jesus who makes the difference.
